Read the period before the headline
BKPM reported investment realisation of Rp1,010.6 trillion for January–June 2026, up 7.2% against the same period a year earlier. This is a national measure for a defined reporting period. It is not a return earned by investors. When a presentation quotes this figure, keep the period and the measure beside it. Rising investment can help explain why a market attracts attention; the commercial case for a particular business still needs its own evidence.

Find the activity behind the total
The same BKPM release identifies basic metals and related products as the leading sector in the first half of 2026, followed by other services, mining, transport, storage and telecommunications, and housing, industrial estates and offices. Those categories cover very different operations. Our practical interpretation is to choose a specific activity to investigate, then describe the customer, buying decision and route to revenue. A sector ranking alone cannot tell you which smaller business within it has an unmet need.

Give each location a testable reason
Build a shortlist around operating requirements: access to customers, suitable premises, staff, utilities and delivery routes. Write one sentence explaining why each location might suit your activity, then list the evidence that could confirm or disprove it. If the proposed advantage is proximity to customers, identify the customer group and investigate purchasing patterns. If it is lower operating cost, request comparable quotations with the same specifications. Treat these as research tasks before treating them as reasons to commit.
Keep the currency visible
Bank Indonesia describes JISDOR as a USD/IDR benchmark based on interbank spot transactions. It also publishes separate references for other currency pairs. Use an appropriate dated reference to make a preliminary comparison, while keeping the original currency beside every amount. Our recommendation is to obtain a transaction quote from your payment provider when planning an actual transfer, including fees and the amount the recipient would receive. A benchmark is useful context; your budget needs the terms available for your transaction.

Build an evidence sheet for each candidate
Use the same headings for every option: proposed activity, customer evidence, location, setup costs, recurring costs, working capital and outstanding checks. Label entries as verified records, quotations or assumptions. Record when each quotation expires and what it excludes. Include the activity classification, ownership structure and permissions among the matters for qualified review. If an opportunity is an existing business, identify exactly what is being offered and request supporting records; if it is an idea, keep it labelled as a concept until a real offer exists.
Choose the next question worth answering
A useful shortlist should reveal which unknown could change your decision. That might be customer demand, the suitability of a premises or the true cost of operating for the first year. Investigate that uncertainty before expanding the forecast. Bring your shortlist and the evidence gathered to Vivo Asia through the enquiry form. We can begin the conversation around your priorities and the support needed to assess the next step. This is a research framework, with no specific asset, available listing or projected return offered.
